1. Organization & Application Scope
Sarvajanika Shree Chamundeshwari Kshetra(“we”, “our”, or “temple administration”) is a non-profit registered religious and charitable institution situated in Hoigebail, Urwa, Mangaluru - 575006, Karnataka, India.
The SSCHKT mobile application is engineered exclusively for authorized temple counter operators, administrative trustees, and field collectors to streamline devotee seva ticketing, issuing pooja receipts, recording voluntary contributions (donations), managing Shashwatha Pooja (perpetual annual pooja) schedules, and issuing computerized thermal receipts.
2. Information We Collect
To facilitate religious ceremonies and comply with institutional audit standards, the application collects the following categories of data when provided by counter operators or devotees:
A. Devotee & Booking Details
When a devotee books a seva, pooja, or makes a voluntary donation at the temple counter or through authorized field collection:
- Personal Identification: Devotee Name, family member names.
- Contact Information: Primary phone number, alternate phone number, and residential/communication address.
- Ritual (Sankalpa) Details: Gothra, Nakshatra, and Rashi for the invocation ritual.
- Seva & Booking Schedule: Chosen seva title, pooja date(s), anniversary dates for recurring Shashwatha Poojas.
B. Financial & Transaction Ledgers
- Amount contributed, mode of payment (Cash, UPI, Cheque, Bank Transfer), reference/cheque number (if applicable).
- Unique sequential receipt numbers (e.g. Seva Receipt Number, Donation Voucher Number) for audit verification.
C. Counter Operator & Audit Logs
- Operator username, authentication session tokens, and role permissions.
- Operational audit logs recording which counter operator generated or verified a specific receipt.
3. Android Device Permissions & Explicit Justification
In strict accordance with Google Play Developer Policies, our app requests only permissions that are strictly necessary to deliver core features:
Bluetooth Access
BLUETOOTH, BLUETOOTH_CONNECT, BLUETOOTH_SCAN
Purpose: To search, pair, and connect directly to portable 58mm/80mm ESC/POS Bluetooth thermal receipt printers at the counter.
Data Handling: We do not access audio devices, phonebooks, or any other peripherals.
Location Permission
ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION, ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION
Purpose: Required exclusively on Android OS versions (Android 11 and lower) as an operating system requirement to scan for nearby Bluetooth Low Energy devices.
The app DOES NOT track, log, store, or transmit your geographical GPS coordinates.
Network Access
INTERNET, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE
Purpose: To securely synchronize seva transactions, verify user sessions, and store receipt records with our secure encrypted server endpoints.
4. How We Use Collected Information & SMS Communications
We use the data collected strictly for devotional and administrative operations:
- Printing Physical Receipts: Providing devotees with printed proof of seva bookings and official donation tax vouchers.
- Automated SMS Pooja Reminders: For devotees enrolled in Shashwatha Pooja (annual recurring pooja), our automated transactional SMS gateway delivers reminder messages 3 days and 1 day before their scheduled pooja anniversary so they can participate or receive the temple prasada.
- Financial Accountability: Maintaining orderly ledgers in compliance with statutory audit standards applicable to Indian charitable and religious trusts.
- Security Auditing: Recording operator actions to prevent fraudulent entries or unauthorized alterations.
5. No Sale of Personal Data & No Commercial Advertising
We pledge that:
- We do NOT sell, rent, monetize, or trade any devotee or operator personal information to data brokers, marketing agencies, or external commercial third parties.
- The SSCHKT app is 100% ad-free. There are zero third-party advertising SDKs, behavioral profiling trackers, or cross-site fingerprinting scripts inside the app.
- Devotee contact information is used exclusively for temple-related receipts, rituals, and anniversary reminders.
6. Third-Party Service Providers
To provide essential operational capabilities, we engage select reputable enterprise service providers who adhere to strict confidentiality and data protection standards:
- Transactional SMS Gateway (SpringEdge):Used exclusively to deliver DLT-approved transactional SMS reminders and booking confirmations to devotees’ registered mobile numbers.
- Cloud Database & API Infrastructure: Encrypted cloud database and server hosting managed with strict network firewalls, role-based database authentication, and TLS 1.2+ encryption in transit.
7. Data Security & Storage Safeguards
We implement robust physical, technical, and managerial safeguards to protect your personal data against unauthorized access, loss, alteration, or misuse:
- TLS / HTTPS Encryption: All data transmitted between the mobile application and temple servers is encrypted using industry-standard Transport Layer Security (TLS).
- Role-Based Access Control: Access to sensitive financial records and devotee contact books is strictly limited to authenticated temple operators and administrative trustees.
- Password Protection: Operator passwords are cryptographically hashed using industry-standard hashing algorithms (bcrypt/argon2) and are never stored in plain text.
8. Devotee Rights & Data Deletion Policy

9. Children’s Privacy
The SSCHKT app is not directed toward children under 13 years of age. Devotees may provide family members’ names (including children) purely for ritual invocation (sankalpa) during poojas. We do not knowingly solicit or collect personal contact information directly from minors.
